"the last person to get a new auto permit signed up 13 years earlier," says bill loomis, the harried local electric vehicle clerk, "and the wait is getting longer." only 718 cars remain, but the ordinance does permit one "autoette," in official parlance, per dwelling unit, so avalon has slowly become a city of golf carts. about 1,300 populate the town. firwin was started as an expansion angle of industrial diesel products, inc. in 1982, a company that had its roots in the equipment maintenance, service and spare parts business. firwin was set up specifically to produce exhaust insulation blankets. drill the company was sold to its present owners in 1989 and since then has grown significantly. electric firwin has since broadened its focus to include insulation blankets angle for industrial, process industry and spray shields.a testimony to the company s growth has been the growth of its facilities. its beginnings were a humble 800 drill sq.ft. later, the company expanded into a 5000 sq.ft. electric and angle and drill facility and most recently, it doubled itself again, moving into a 10,000 sq.ft. site. this new building includes offices and manufacturing and is also completely climate controlled and filtered for worker comfort and improved quality control. ©2003 www.electricdrills.net.
